1932 cover franked with 2 single examples of the 1932 2d Red KGV perf 11 No Wmk Sweepstake Postal Forgeries, postmarked on the 22nd of March, 1932 and addressed to South Australia. Small section of one stamp missing and few minor faults to envelope, as would be expected from it's commercial usage. Also includes original Irish Sweepstake leaflet, with the schedule of prizes, that was enclosed in the original envelope, an item that we haven't seen offered previously, that adds to the historical interest of the cover. The stamps on the cover are from positions 27 and 30 on the forger's printing plate. A letter from the original recipient, a Storekeeper, states that tickets were included in the envelope, which he sold and sent payment for. Presumably the envelopes franked with 2 stamps, were sent out with tickets included in them. ACSC states 6 covers are known, 2 of which are franked with 2 examples. We believe this to be a new discovery, cancelled a day prior to any of the other known covers. A cover franked with 2 forgeries realised $11,650.00, including buyers premium in 2007.
