1911 Stamp Design Competition Essay designed by Arthur L. Brice, 1d KGV on 4.3 x 5.6cm sepia coloured glazed paper and endorsed "Albo" at lower right (Brice's nom de plume for the competition). Also the final hand drawn original 8.9 x 11.5cm pen and ink in Black and White on thin card with "Design submitted to" at top and "Commonwealth Postal Authorities" at base, by Arthur L. Brice and endorsed "Albo" at lower right, plus two progressive designs, hand written Explanation of Stamp and postcard of the submitted design with hand written message detailing the competition on reverse. Very fine and rare. Recently discovered and the only known example of this design. Unrecorded in the Australian Specialist catalogue.

1915 2d Silver-Grey Die I 3rd Wmk Kangaroo in MUH reasonably centered block of 12 lightly mounted on the top 3 units and the central unit at base, with varieties "Retouched bottom frame at right and white flaw in Gulf of Carpentaria", "Retouched shading east of Cape York" (a scarce late state variety), "Retouched upper frame at right" and "Retouched upper frame at left". Three of the variety stamps are MUH, one non variety unit has a natural paper inclusion. Fresh and attractive. ACSC 7Dd, &Df, 7Dg and 7Dh. Imputed catalogue value $1,900.00.
