One of 3 known First Day of Use covers for this interesting Emergency stamp issue, when insufficient 30c stamps were held in stock by the distributor of stamps in Adelaide, after the postage rate rose from 70¢ to $1.00. The postmaster at Adelaide GPO pressed the counter printed stamp machine into service to alleviate the shortage, and were placed on sale at a small range of Post Offices from the 6th of January and appear to have sold out by the 8th January, by which time supplies of the normal 30¢ Crocodile stamps had been distributed. The 30c Stamp is what has become known as Type B (traditionally Pfeffer type 3), and appears to have the inverted albino print of the literal that appears on a small portion of these issues.
