John Freind (1675-1728), Physician, 1728 Copper Tribute Medal by Ferdinand de Saint-Urbain, obverse with bust and reverse an ancient and contemporary physician join hands extremely fine. (Eimer 515 and Brettauer 372). John Freind was a Fellow of the Royal Society (1712) and member of Parliament for Launceston (1722). He was imprisoned for a while when suspected of favouring the exiled Stuarts, but on his release appointed physician to Frederick, Prince of Wales and later to Queen Caroline. He was published extensively.
